I primarily breastfeed my children, but because I work a few hours each afternoon and for convenience I occasionally have given them infant formula when I am out in public. I also use formula when I make infant cereal.
This morning as I was preparing Kaelyn's cereal I just happened to glance at the ingredient label on the side of the can of formula and to my surprise the first two ingredients were CORN SYRUP and SUGAR!! AHHH!! Here I am trying my hardest to not buy any products that contain High Fructose Corn Syrup for the rest of my family and would have never guessed that BABY products would be allowed to contain corn syrup.
Wanting to learn more I went online and found this article "Corn Syrup in Formula" .
I have been using Sensitive and Soy-based formulas because Kaelyn spits up a lot, but now I am going to change back to the basic MILK-BASED formula that contains lactose rather than sugar and corn syrup. Who would have thougth?

Hey, I don't know if you've heard of Baby's Only Organic Soy Formula. It does not contain corn syrup. Here is a statement from their web site:

Hey Megan! Remember me, from the mission? Hna peless?? I just found your blog, through Becky's!! Congrats on your beautiful girls! I am actually a Lactation Specialist and have had a problem with some moms, whose babies can't tolerate corn..ie: corn syrup..ie: all formula. I didn't know about that Baby's only organic...but I know that the only other one is Alimentum READY-To-Feed formula (ie: EXPENSIVE). It's disgusting how much HFCS is in everything. Check our your medicine--most kid's medicine has it in it too! I've been trying to stay away from it too. Just better!

crazy? I'm glad to hear that the milk-based formula doesn't have that stuff because I had to wean Andrew and he's an all formula babe now so I'm trying to be positive about formula.
